KATO MERIA
Going towards to the south-west side of the island, the natural landscape changes. Becoming smoother, ending up in sloping valleys of traditional cultivations and interspersed with small settlements.
Kato Meria can be reahed by car or by Footpaths through Minoa, Lefkes, Agioi Saranta, Kastri and ancient Arkessini. In this area there are two villages Kamari and Vroutsi with water springs, Byzantine monuments and the captivating beaches at Mouros.
To the west meet Arkessini with Agia Triada tower from Classic-hellenistic times. Amoudi is the nearest beach.
The road to Kato Meria goes to Kolofana;s and Kalotaritissa valleys with the island largest cultivations and the vivid coasts of Paradissa, Kato Kabos and Kalotaritissa bay.
In summer locals celebrate the festival of St. Paraskevi.
